​This is the "Audiophile's Sandbox." The KZ Castor is arguably the best value-for-money IEM for someone who doesn't know exactly what sound signature they like yet. By buying one set, you effectively get access to a dozen different tunings. Whether you want a neutral monitor for mixing or a bass-heavy beast for EDM, the Castor can be "flicked" into service.

​The Trade-Off

​"The Switch Chore." The tuning switches are incredibly small and require the included tool to adjust. This isn't something you can do easily while on the move. Also, the Black version’s bass is extremely potent—if you aren't a true bass-head, it might overwhelm your music unless you dial the switches back.

​Vault Member Tip: For the Black (Improved Bass) version, many in the community recommend the "UUDU" (Up, Up, Down, Up) switch configuration. This maximizes the sub-bass for that deep rumble but keeps the lower-mids (Switch 3) off to prevent any "muddiness" or bleeding into the vocals.
